The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles has two upcoming events in December you won’t want to miss. On Sunday, December 4, join them for a secular sing-along, celebration and community building event. Special guest artist David O. will teach a selection of Elizabethan madrigals from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Wine will be provided by Gallo Wines. Click Here for reservations.
Then on Friday, December 16 from 8:00 – 10:30 pm, come on down for a screening of Julie Taymor’s The Tempest, a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s final masterpiece featuring Academy Award®-winner Helen Mirren leading a star-studded cast that includes Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, Alan Cumming, Chris Cooper and David Straitharn. Exiled to a magical island, the sorceress Prospera (Mirren) conjures up a storm that shipwrecks her enemies, and then unleashes her powers for revenge. It’s a supernatural dramedy filled with Shakespearean villains, lovers and fools that will leave you spellbound. * Please note – this film is rated PG 13 – for some nudity, suggestive content and scary images.
