Elizabethan Madrigals with David O. and a screening of The Tempest

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles has two upcoming events in December you won’t want to miss. On Sunday, December 4, join them for a secular sing-along, celebration and community building event. Special guest artist David O. will teach a selection of Elizabethan madrigals from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Wine will be provided by Gallo Wines. Click Here for reservations.

Then on Friday, December 16 from 8:00 – 10:30 pm, come on down for a screening of Julie Taymor’s The Tempest, a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s final masterpiece featuring Academy Award®-winner Helen Mirren leading a star-studded cast that includes Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, Alan Cumming, Chris Cooper and David Straitharn. Exiled to a magical island, the sorceress Prospera (Mirren) conjures up a storm that shipwrecks her enemies, and then unleashes her powers for revenge. It’s a supernatural dramedy filled with Shakespearean villains, lovers and fools that will leave you spellbound. * Please note – this film is rated PG 13 – for some nudity, suggestive content and scary images. Click Here for reservations.

Both events will be held in The Studio at The Shakespeare Center, 1238 W. 1st Street, Los Angeles, 90026 and admission is free with a reservation; $10.00 suggested donation at the door.
