A Noise Within has a Single Play Intensive coming up in March focusing on Shakespeare’s King Lear. The Intensive is a unique opportunity for teachers to re-energize their educational practices to promote a love of Shakespeare in the classroom. In hands-on sessions, A Noise Within teaching artists will lead a thorough investigation of King Lear making strong connections to classroom work, as a series of lesson plans are devised with the central themes, characters, and textual analysis of the play. The course is designed for those wishing to expand their knowledge of Shakespeare, as well as those for whom Shakespeare is relatively new.
To gain a deeper understanding of King Lear, teachers will participate in fun, interactive exercises in vocal delivery and inquiry-based table readings led by trained teaching artists. Teachers will attend the workshop and two performances to fulfill LAUSD requirements. (2 LAUSD Salary Points).
Class Dates: Mondays 6:00 – 10:00 pm on March 4, 11, 18, April 1 & 8, and Saturday April 20 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Fee: $200
