Parson’s Nose Productions Presents As You Like It

Parson's NoseParson’s Nose Productions (PNP), the professional, Pasadena theater company “introducing classic theater to all ages,” ends its 13th season with a Readers’ Theater presentation of Shakespeare’s As You Like It in a two hour adaptation by Lance Davis, Saturday April 20 at 7:00 pm and Sunday April 21 at 2:00 pm at Lineage Performing Arts, 89 South Fair Oaks Avenue, Old Pasadena, CA 91105.

“So this is the Forest of Arden”. The banished Duke and his court seek protection in the mysterious Forest of Arden and delightedly find the urbane tactics of rumor and intrigue have no place in the bucolic world of shepherds and lovers. Nature’s seductive power to heal and nurture beguiles the wounded outcasts and refocuses their priorities. “All the world’s a stage.”

“This time around I was struck by its environmental message,” says Davis. “We’ve all experienced the restorative power of Nature, whether camping in the redwoods or sitting by the ocean. Even a round of golf sends us back into the everyday world with a new vision. That’s what I want to explore here. Shakespeare’s mother was an Arden and owned land in Stratford. I love the idea of him retreating from the hurly burly of London to his home town and relaxing with a pint on a sunny day, just thinking up a new play.”

The cast of As You Like It includes PNP veterans Jane Longenecker, Ivar Brogger, Alan Brooks, Michael Manuel, Barry Gordon, Mary Chalon, John Harnagel, Jill Rogosheske, Mark McCracken, Amanda Pajer, Michael Faulkner, Betsy Reisz, Nora Frankovich and Gary Lamb.
