City Hearts: Kids Say Yes to the Arts presents “A Day of Enchantment” featuring The 4th Annual Shakespeare Challenge, Recital and Photography Exhibit on Saturday, June 1st at The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum from 10:00 am – 2:30 pm. This is a free community event showcasing the work of over 200 students from L.A.’s inner city communities who have participated in City Hearts’ Arts programming in Shakespeare, Dance, Musical Theatre and Photography.
Students will kick-off the day competing in the Shakespeare Challenge on Theatricum’s Main Stage, performing scenes and monologues before a panel of judges and attending audience members. Judges invited to participate include Max Adler, Ellen Geer, Jennifer Bronstein, Walton Goggins, and Armin Shimerman. Many of the children have competed in the Challenge since its inception, and for others, it will be their very first time. The afternoon’s activities will feature students from the Dance and Musical Theatre programs in Recitals and a Student Photography Exhibitions.
