Fathom Events and BBC Worldwide North America are continuing the 400-year Shakespeare celebration with The Shakespeare Show, a special one-night event, in cinemas nationwide on Monday, May 23.
The performance was recorded live from the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon on April 23, the anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, and captures the enduring influence of Shakespeare’s plays on music, dance, opera, musical theatre and comedy. You may have seen the “battle of the Hamlets” clip that is going around social media that was part of this event.
The show was conceived and directed by Gregory Doran, hosted by David Tennant and Catherine Tate and features Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Helen Mirren, John Lithgow, David Suchet, Joseph Fiennes, Rufus Wainwright, Tim Minchin, Al Murray, Meera Syal, Alison Moyet, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Paapa Essiedu, Pippa Nixon, Alexandra Gilbreath, the Royal Ballet, the Orchestra of the Swan and many more.
That’s a cast with a pretty big “wow” factor so you may want to get thee to the theater. Quite a few are showing it in Southern California.
