Groundless Shakespeare Announces Cast of Macbeth

Macbeth Groundless

The Groundless Shakespeare Ensemble presents Macbeth in its most basic form: the actors are cast separately and rehearse their lines on their own, then come together for a one-night-only event on Friday, November 1, at St. Nicks Pub in Beverly Hills, 8450 West 3rd Street.

Audience and performers will discover the play at the same time , embracing the accidents and minor miracles that can only be found in live theatre with this unique celebration of poetry, food, drink, dancing, and theatre. Shakespeare is truly taken off the pedestal as the audience is encouraged to call out, answer their cell phones, order food and drink, completely ignore or thoroughly participate in the onstage action. Finally, a Shakespeare company that offers the delicious elicit tang of the Elizabethan theatre with no pretense, no rules and no promises.

What results is a kind of “fun-house” experience for the audience: the horror of the play meets the irreverence of a Groundless production. It may be the scariest or funniest Mackers ever. No one will know for sure until the performance unfolds.

Disclaimer: THE PRODUCERS ASK THAT, UPON ENTERING THE THEATRE, MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE SPEAK THE NAME OF THE PLAY, MACBETH, AS OFTEN AND AS LOUDLY AS THEY WISH)

The cast includes Kevin Murphy as Macbeth and Dianne Manaster as Lady Macbeth, Cory Williams (Duncan), Sean Faye (Malcolm), Franceska Lynne (Donalbain/Seyton), Lizze Basset (Lady Macduff), Derek Biddle (Banquo), Mike Ross (Macduff), Justin Michael Terry (Lennox), Andrew Lehman (Rosse), Tim Portnoy (Angus/Porter), Mick Lambuth (Fleance/Young Siward/Boy), Lizze Basset (Siward, Earl of Northumberland), Jack Morroco (Doctors/First Murdered), Jacques Freydont (Sergeant/Second Murderer/Old Man), Amelia Murphy (First Witch/Other), Victoria Longwell (Second Witch/Other), and Caity Engler (Third Witch/Third Murderer).
