Independent Shakespeare Company will present a staged reading of Solemn Mockeries on Saturday, November 19 at 5:00 pm. Solemn Mockeries is the true story of the notorious (but sympathetic) William-Henry Ireland, who as a teenager in the 1790s deceived most of the eminent literary men of London with his forgeries of notes, letters, and finally an entire play “by William Shakespeare.” In this one-man show, an older but not especially wise William-Henry looks back from twenty years of exile and confesses to the literary crime of the century – about which he is still rather proud. David Melville plays William-Henry in this staged reading recounting the surprising life of a man who re-invented himself as William Shakespeare. Click Here for tickets.
